Apple improves security with fingerprint reader (TouchID) in the bottom to provide extra security. You can either take a picture of a credit card to use it, or use a card registered to your iTunes account.
No outsiders according to Apple to see your card number.

Express, Visa, MasterCard, Chase, Bank of America, Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s and Disney are just a few of the companies that partnered with Apple and their NFC wallet. Overall they tied 22,000 retailers to themselves.
