Enstegstätade plastered facades is a construction method which means that the wall is being built without an air gap and plaster laid directly on the insulation. Once the design has been used in timber frame construction, it has suffered heavy moisture problems.
SP has investigated about 75 buildings with enstegstätade facades that have been repaired due to humidity problems. All have been hit by renewed leakage after the repairs.
– Since there may be different degrees of leakage, says Anders Jansson, claims investigator at SP .
The studied buildings are located in southern and central Sweden and has been repaired in different ways. At some have only minor operations are performed while the facades have been demolished completely at the other houses.
Some of the repairs has meant that organic windbreak discs have been replaced with inorganic discs. Common to all measures is that they have led to some improvement compared with the house’s original construction.
– The repairs have included everything from What we advance not think is a sufficient measure to things that on paper looks okay, says Anders Jansson.
Still, it has thus not been enough. Since all the studied buildings has suffered leaks are now calling for the SP more monitoring of repairs.
– It can be done relatively easily with unintegrated humidity sensor . One should follow up all repaired facades to see if they are tight, says Anders Jansson.
The findings have been presented in an article in Construction & amp; Technology, and in a report published earlier this year.
When the alarm about the enstegstätade facades came in 2007 where several construction companies quick to modify the construction they used in new buildings. The modification was mostly about enhanced features, such as penetrations and fittings, as well as the organic material was removed from the outer parts. Moreover changed many construction companies, insulation and plaster materials. Instead of foam and thin plaster was elected to a greater extent mineral wool and thick plaster.

SP has investigated a relatively large number of buildings with such modified facades. Although these seem to have problems with moisture in the walls.
– even though it has made improvements, it turns out that the design often delights in all cases, says Anders Jansson.
Exactly how many such houses that have been investigated and how many leaks SP has not compiled.
– This is no statistical basis. It should be seen as an indication of the moisture measurements in a large number of buildings, says Anders Jansson.
The moisture measurements that SP has done suggests the humidity values are not as high and the damage is not as extensive as in the original enstegstätade construction.
– It looks better, but not good enough. It’s bad enough that it seeps into and are injuries, says Anders Jansson.
Does the SP’s performance to will see the construction industry’s modified enstegskonstruktion who condemned?
– Absolutely not. There are too few cases to draw any general conclusions. But indications are that the measures have been insufficient, says Anders Jansson.
