Ica earns millions on asylum seekers – Vasterbotten Courier

The number of asylum seekers coming to Sweden continues to increase. It also makes ICA Bank’s profit, reported Swedish Television News.

For the Migration Board to pay a daily allowance to asylum seekers is required prepaid. ICA Bank won the contract to supply them, and since December 2013 the Agency has invoiced a total of 68 million.

Ica bank charges a fee of 15 SEK each time the asylum seekers making a cash withdrawal. They do not charge such a fee in any of their bank cards. The cards also costs 175 crowns to boot.

There is a good deal for both the bank and the Swedish Migration Board, according Ica bank’s general counsel Annika Hernodh.

– This service is an important part of our business. Of course, it helps our profits but it is not critical to Ica bank will make a profit, she says to SVT.
