The Obama government creates the platform of open code – share amounts of … – IDG.see

Code.gov opened last Thursday and already provides around 50 open-source projects from a total of 13 different agencies, such as NASA and the national treasury. One of the objectives is to prevent duplication is the very software can be used to work within several government agencies. “We are excited about the launch, and hope that Code.gov shall be an additional creative platform that gives the possibility for citizens to make government services more effective, accessible and transparent,” writes Tony Scott, who is the government’s own CIO, in a blog post.

Policy for open-source material is at least 20% of the federal the source code shall be open to the public within three years. Which of course does not include national security systems.

“this is just The beginning. We have much more planned for the Code.gov. We urge you to check out the page, send us your ideas for how to improve it, and help us unlock the potential that exists in the federal government software,” writes Tony Scott.
