Red-haired emoji can become a reality – 99mac

Unicode-the committee shall meet with Apple next week to discuss the rödhårige emoji symbol be or not to be.

For almost exactly two years ago was a petition by Emma Kelly, who operates the website Ginger Parrot to urge Apple to introduce the red-haired emoji characters. She wrote then that:

“It is a symbol for each moon phase, and two different fårliknande characters, but not a single redhead. [..] Natural redheads is only two per cent of the world’s population, but it corresponds to 138 000 000 Iphones."'

There have not been any red-haired emoji characters since then, but now reports Apple Insider that the Committee for the Unicode standard, shall meet with Apple next week to talk about the possibilities

to add a redhead emoji-variant.

During the last three months have is one of the most common complaints to the committee has been the lack of a redhead #emoji. They have collected proposals on how they could go about introducing the rödhårige symbol. One of the ways mentioned is to create a brand-new emoji with red hair, or to make a similar solution as for the different hudfärgerna.

the Next version of Unicode is only months from being launched, so it remains to see if a redhead emoji can be taken until then. Most likely, it will linger until next year’s update.
