Apple takes home 92 percent of the profits in the mobile industry, although they account for a little less than 20 percent of sales.
There are about 1000 manufacturers of smart phones, but of all of them it is a company that takes home almost all the profit, reports the Wall Street Journal.
Apple can recoup 92 percentage of total operating income from the world’s eight largest smart phone manufacturer in the first quarter of this year, according to a report by investment bank Canaccord Genuity. Samsung is second best with 15 percent. A year ago, Apple’s share of the profit 65 percent.
The high profit share is impressive considering that Apple’s market share is around 20 percent.
Together, Apple and Samsung for more than 100 percent of the profits in the mobile industry where other manufacturers will break even or make a loss according Canaccords calculations.
