Seven percent of the total workforce, 7,800 people, will be cut off when Microsoft diet. It is mainly the mobile phone business concerned, which hits hard against Finland.
The company also writes down the value of the mobile operations of 7.6 billion dollars, and probably the entire value of Nokia mobile phones which it bought in 2014 for 7.2 billion dollars.
Stephen Elop, once Nokia’s chief executive, also leaves the company, which was announced last month.
Reuters reports that Microsoft shares rose 1.4 percent on Wednesday after the company president Satya Nadella announced cutbacks.
