Yesterday Microsoft announced that 7,800 posts will disappear from the company worldwide which is seven per cent of the entire workforce. And it’s phone production concerned.
Finland has today three product development units. Microsoft will probably close down one of them, the operations in Salo. 2300 employees may be allowed to go from the company, according to YLE.

The cuts on the hardware side, Microsoft shows that they are increasingly switching focus from phone manufacturing to software and cloud services. They also write down the value of mobile phone units by 7.6 billion dollars. Nokia did not save for Microsoft’s mobile phones.
