Apple now confirm that all Apple Watch models have the same storage capacity and tells how much images and music that can be stored locally.
Apple now confirm that all of the # Apple Watch models will get the same storage space, namely eight gigabytes. That should be enough for the operating system, applications, cache files and the user’s music and image files, reports 9to5Mac.
There are some limitations in how the space can be used. Users can store up to two gigabytes of music in the unit and up to 75 megabytes of images in the Photos app. The locally stored files can be accessed and played without the user’s iPhone is nearby meaning the user can listen to music while jogging, but to have with the phone.
Two gigabytes of music corresponds to about 200 songs depending on quality, which may seem a little too frequent music listeners. As playlist during workout should however be sufficient and the rest of the music library on your phone accessed via Bluetooth when devices are near each other.
When it comes to images allows 75 megabytes efficient, but the clock will automatically scale images and optimize them for the watch’s screen so that they take up less space than the phone or tablet. 9to5Mac estimates that it can go into some 100 pictures in the time before the limit is reached.
The remaining space in the clock will be used by the operating system, the built-in apps and example configuration files and cache files. Looking ahead, the user will also be able to download new apps to watch through the app, Apple Watch released for iOS in release 8.2.
