New Lumia 640 is a simpler Lumiatelefon to be sold in a 3G variant and an LTE version for 139 euros and 159 euros, or Elop puts it, “a third of the price of competitors’ flagship handsets.” With a battery capacity of 2400 milliamps company promises that you’ll fare a whole day without having to recharge, and for those who want are two models of variations that can handle two SIM cards. Something that has been important in many low-cost markets where Nokia had a stronger position to previous models.

For those who is a bit bigger pocket, and wallet, the 640 also in an XL version. Also, it should be for both LTE 4G and 3G, and prices should end up at 219 and 189 euros. For that price you get a phone with a screen of 5.9 inches and with a 13 megapixel camera instead of as in the case of the little sister a 8 megapixel camera. In the larger the cell phone also houses a larger battery that will provide longer run time.

Stephen Elop is careful to point out that the front camera works fine both for Skype and “selfies” and that the models come in several colors. But it is clear that the focus is on the business user. In the package are namely Microsoft’s cloud service Office 365 in one year and one terabyte of storage capacity in the company’s One Drive. The service works not only on mobile phones but can also be used on your computer or tablet device.

An important selling point in Microsoft’s view that the company’s apps and services now works on all kinds of gadgets , from budget mobile to the company’s giant conference room tv Surface Hub.

The new phones comes with Windows 8, but the company promises that they will be upgraded to Windows 10. ” during the year. ” Stephen Elop also hoping for more app developers to focus on apps that work with both the mobile and the computer. The actual runs Microsoft before with Microsoft Office and with the new browser Spartan that will serve both the mobile and the computer.

Since the purchase of the Nokia this year, Microsoft has worked hard with that being more or less on their own trying to get a foothold in the mobile market. But still sales figures for mobiles with the company’s operating vanishingly small compared with its competitors Android and IOS. At last year’s Mobile World’s Fair, the company presented several handsets running the Android operating system that would give them a place in new markets and in the segment of cheaper phones.

The venture has it since then been talk quietly about, and Stephen Elop also no mention of it in today’s presentation. Now the focus is entirely on Windows 10 but the company despite the fact that they give away the operating system difficult to attract other manufacturers to invest in their own Windows Phones.
