The technology took 450,000 jobs in five years – Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet

A report made of the think tank Reform Institute on behalf of the Foundation for Strategic Research (SSF) shows that the number of computer specialists increased by 20 percent over the five years. They are expected to be more than twice as many as today about 20 years.

But automation and digitization has also indirectly led to new jobs. Technologies offer for more and new products to be sold and serviced. At the same time, society has become more complex, which favors a profession lawyers, which increased 18 percent in five years.

This, together with increased demand due to rising incomes have replaced three quarters of the jobs that have disappeared, writes report author Stefan Fölster in Dagens Nyheter.

The fact that employment rate still increased in Sweden, despite the backlash, think Fölster is because the tax on labor and employment dropped. He is now calling for political reform to discourage automation downsides, such as a focus on simple digital solutions in education, health care or elder care. Such innovations may be the springboard for new export business, he believes.
