Just in time for the Mobile World Congress earlier this year, IKEA announced that the company expanded its investment in furniture with built-in electronics with table lamps with built-in support for wireless laddstandarden Qi. The idea is that the phone should start charging as soon as it is placed on the base of the bulb without the boring clutter. Good idea, but the problem is that most phones still do not support wireless charging.
Ikea solution is to now offer adapters that will lift phones without the new technology into the brave new wireless future. According to the site Mashable will Ikea shortly to offer adapters for Apple’s iPhone 6 and Samsung’s Galaxy 5 for the equivalent of about SEK 119 and SEK 199 plugged into the phone, and so that it can be charged wirelessly.
The adapter goes under the is the name White Hult and judging by the pictures that Ikea has shown up so the idea is that the iPhone user to leave the adapter into the phone even when it is used in much the same way as the shell that contains extra battery.
