Researchers have developed a book with seemingly ordinary paper pages, but that serve as purifying filters.
Each Bokblad contains nanoparticles of silver or copper, which purifies water from the bacteria.
The pages are torn out individually and placed in a simple filter holders. When water is poured through the filter takes the nanoparticles of copper and silver carbon on the bacteria and the water is purified.
The researchers have tested the filter in contaminated water in South Africa, Ghana and Bangladesh, and the result was that 99 percent of the bacteria disappeared.
This “drinkable book” as scientists call it, also contains textual information on the book pages about the sanitation process works and why it is important to clean water. Each blade can clean 100 liters of water according to the researchers. It reports the BBC.
