The engine of a conventional electric bike can provide up to 250 watts of power. In some countries there are bicycles with a much stronger electric motor, up to one kilowatt. Individual copies may exist even in Sweden, even though they are not yet approved for road traffic.
But the New Year will be such bikes can be approved and run in all EU countries, according to a regulation. A proposal has been circulated for comment, and presented in the fall by the Government.
