Transport Agency has quickly introduced a temporary grounding of Ringhals and Forsmark. It applies from September 7 until October 14.
then introduced a permanent ban to fly over nuclear power plants. It applies to all types of aircraft, including drones and model aircraft.
According to Vattenfall flight ban covers an area of approximately 600 meters vertically and horizontally within a circle with a radius of one nautical mil (1852 meters).
The background is that the drone observed near two nuclear power plants in late August.
Already in June, the nuclear power companies submitted an application for getting grounded introduced after the events in France over the past year where the drones circled of nuclear facilities. But the application could not be completed. Two weeks ago, they asked instead that the temporary ban.
– We have taken the events at the French nuclear power plants and drönarobservationerna at Forsmark and Ringhals very seriously, says Eva Halldén, CEO of Forsmark and Ringhals, in a press release from Vattenfall. She also stated that the monitoring of nuclear power plants strengthened.
Military aircraft, as well as police and emergency services are not affected.
