Google secures by the automatic guided vehicles are safer than vehicles performed by humans. This follows reports that several of the company’s driverless cars involved in accidents.
The driverless cars will never be distracted by their surroundings, according to Chris Urmson who runs the project at Google. He writes on his blog that the cars last sensors can keep track of other cars, bicycles and pedestrians on the “almost two fotbollsplaners distance”.
Still, Google’s fleet of more than 20 driverless cars have been involved in eleven accidents in recent years. In all cases, it should be small sheet metal damage and no people should have come to harm. And according to Chris Urmson is not one of the accidents on a Google car.
On seven occasions, they have been hit from behind, a couple of times, Google cars have been hit from the side, and another accident was due to another car did not stop at a stop sign. Car accidents was simply due to human error – if you ask Google.
