Hackers: “I took control of the planet” – Expressen

LONDON. It sounds like a script for a Hollywood thriller.

But Chris Roberts chopped into a passenger storey computers from his passenger seat.

And took control of the plane.

Chris Roberts is an IT expert with aviation safety focus. He has given several lectures at technology conferences in which he warned of how easy it is to hack into, for example, a passenger plane.

And that is exactly what he did, he argues. He told himself there because he wants that safety will be improved. The FBI has now launched an investigation, writes The Times.

Chris Roberts for an FBI agent told how he during a flight could control the aircraft engines throttle from their passenger seat.

With the help by an Ethernet cable connected he recorded his own PC via the plane’s entertainment system. The box was placed under his seat.

He used the manufacturer’s default password to get into the plane’s computer system.

“He has testified how he was thus able to increase the throttle on one of the plane’s engines, something that made the plane to move a little sideways. “writes an FBI agent in an application to go through Robers computers.

Robert tweeted in April from a flight with United Airlines from Denver to Syracuse that he planned to hack the plane’s systems. He has previously claimed that he got into the aircraft’s computer systems, but then just content to observe.
