Several large hospitals in Stockholm was hit on Wednesday afternoon by a large computer failure. The networks were down for over two hours on the South Hospital, Danderyd Karolinska Huddinge and Karolinska Solna.
– It started with a problem in the servers at Danderyd Hospital and when traffic started redirected from there it became Overload also on the South Hospital, and when this happened to hit it even Karolinska in Solna and Huddinge, says Gunnar Öhlén, chief physician at Karolinska, to Dagens Nyheter.
The hospitals went during the break in the so-called staff position where less acute care cases were prioritized away.
– No patient has been affected as far as we know, says Anders Nyström, IT director at the Stockholm County Council, said.
What caused the problems from the beginning is unclear.
– We will now investigate what went wrong, says Anders Nyström.
