Halving of sales of Windows Phone – New Technology

Windows and mobile telephony seems to be like oil and water. Despite nearly 15 years of dogged fighting, Microsoft has not managed to get the two to unite in any meaningful ugly way. In its latest quarterly report, as quoted by The Verge, it is clear that now is not the solution to the track now either. Sales of Lumia phones have been halved compared with the same period last year. According to analysts at IDC were sold in the same quarter as Microsoft managed to sell 4.5 million phones in total 400 million phones in the world. This means that Microsoft’s share of new ports in just over one percent. According to The Verge have Microsoft and Nokia, which Microsoft bought this year, together sold 110 million handsets with Windows Phone since Lumiaserien presented for almost five years ago. At the same time, it has sold 4.5 billion phones with operating systems from Apple and Google.

Despite the setbacks, it seems that Microsoft will continue to invest in mobile in any form. Right now there are rumors that the company is going on with a mobile in his series Surface which today includes tablets and hybrid computers with the full version of its Windows operating system.

Important step for the final repository in Forsmark clear – New Technology

The nuclear industry waste company SKB (Swedish nuclear fuel management) would partly build a final repository for spent nuclear fuel at Forsmark and a facility in Oskarshamn to encapsulate the waste in copper canisters.

Most controversial is the application to build a detention under the so-called copper canister method (KBS3) been. It already took place in 2011 – and for five years has been SSM requested more under the surface as a supplement.

Now, after five years, believes SSM application to be complete. Therefore, they have today announced the application, together with the application for a permit to build the encapsulation plant.

The decision means that the Agency can start examining the substantive issues in their entirety.

– The fact that we are now saying that the application is complete does not mean that we can not ask for more completions, says Ansi Gerhardsson, Head of the SSM.

At the same time now invited the public that opinions about the plants, by 30 April.

If you have now received all the documentation you wanted to get some of SKB?

– Basically, in some issues we had slightly different views about whether the information is sufficient.

Is then your assessment of the issue of the copper canisters could corrode in oxygen-free water down there in the repository now settled?

– No, it is not, we review still it says Ansi Gerhardsson.

– We have not yet landed in if we, in this mode of examination, the need to request more documents or not.

SSM will later this spring present their conclusions about the place and method to the Land and Environment Court, which in parallel with SSM’s nuclear investigation, working with the environmental assessment of the repository.

The court has asked the various consultation bodies to submit their judgments on the merits past the 30 March.

– The focus for us is to look at the big picture, the whole concept of the repository. It is well known that we look at the bentonite clay, how the rock acts, the capsule may work and be durable for long time, she says. We will of course participate in court hearings in the fall and see if there are more issues, says Ansi Gerhardsson.

Is it possible to reverse the multi-annual review process if it forward turns out that a repository options need?

– There’s nothing that says that SKB will be approved just because we kept you so long, and examined it. But it will address issues that show that this method is not working as it is supposed, so it is not sure that we give our approval. It depends on what’s not working and it may have an impact on long-term safety.

Although the Land and Environmental Court at Nacka District Court has today King made SKB’s final repository application and the company’s application to build an encapsulation facility in Oskarshamn.

DeLorean has caught up with the future – New Technology

The company located in Texas have fought for years for the right to take up production of the sports car with its gull-wing doors, originally built in 1981 and -82 in only nine thousand copies. Best known was the one that Future machine in the movie Back to the Future when the actor Michael J. Fox in the role of Marty McFly drove a DMC-12.

The original DeLorean company went bankrupt in 1982, but a new one with the same name was founded in 1995 in Texas and purchased parts warehouse, which contains millions of parts. It has devoted itself to repair and resale of used DMC-12, but also wanted to start the production of new car because the demand has been felt.

The problems have been right to use the mark, as well as to get the car approved by the US traffic safety authorities.

But last year they made a deal for trademark rights, while a new law made it possible to manufacture cars in very small series of so-called replica cars. They just need to meet the security requirements that were in force when the original vehicle was new.

Therefore expects Delo’s Motor Co. to manufacture 300 new cars will use a variety of original parts from the warehouse, but also some newly manufactured. One example is the engine, which was originally a V6A manufactured in France and are also used by Volvo. Where the Texas company is currently in discussions with various manufacturers about which machine to use.

The new construction is expected to get under way in spring 2017 and the price is projected to be somewhere just under $ 100 000.

But the opportunities have not come without a cost. In recent years, probably associate most Oracle plug-in with security holes and constant exhortations to update to a new version. Oracle now throwing in the towel for its plug-in has is that Google and Mozilla will remove support for this type of plug-ENCODE in their browsers. According to a post on Oracle’s website depends in turn on the mobile browser, where the archaic plug-in technology is not used become popular and to developers of web browsers want to functions should be as equal as possible between the phone and the computer.

The Oracle put their plugin does not mean that it no longer wants developers to use Java in the browser. The solution that makes 5g efficient – New Technology

Ericsson 5g-venture company’s main research projects. It is also the country’s most important, because Ericsson is one of the country’s biggest employer by far the most employees who work with research and development.

A fiasco 5g project would also strike hard against Swedish exports in the long term. The telecom giant is the country’s largest exporter.

For both Ericsson and Sweden, it is therefore extremely important that the Swedish mobile giant also succeed with the next mobile generation, the fifth in the order, 5g.

The competition is cutthroat . Chinese main opponent Huawei is now investing SEK 5 billion at 5g research over five years. There is a lot of money at such an early stage. 5g standard will be completed only in 2020. Exactly how much Ericsson invests do not want to reveal.

How is it going for Ericsson 5g-research? New Technology visited Kista to get an update and got to see the new 5g prototype, the first of its new radio interface, dubbed NX after Star Trek’s starship. The new base station weighs 18 kilos and can fit in a suitcase. The idea was that new technology would be the first newspaper in the world that would get a demonstration of the new miracle. But something failed.

– But we know that everything works. This particular box will be soon sent away to be tested in the mobile network of one of our customers, says Mats Norin, portfolio manager at Unit Radio at Ericsson.

So far, Ericsson has only produced a handful of similar prototypes . The first is already skeppad of NTT Docomo in Japan, where it will be tested in the spring.

Read more: , Telia wants to become the first 5g

A lot has happened since Ericsson’s researchers for the first time described the 5g of New Technology. It was the spring of 2013, then it was the tender specifications which were presented:

One hundred times higher data rate than the 4G network, a thousand times higher data volumes, one-tenth as long response times, ten times longer battery life, a hundred times more people online gadgets and better reliability.

– With the new 5g prototype we can demonstrate that we meet the requirements, assures Håkan Andersson, head of 5g Radio at Ericsson.

In the first 5g- Ericsson experiments used the same principle for the connectivity of the mobile phones in 4G networks, where mobile phone hooked up to a single base station. Only when the cell phone was moved closer to another base station was handed over the data signal to the new base over so-called “handover”.

But in the new 5g prototype Ericsson uses a completely new solution. There is talk in the industry about a paradigm shift, as 5g handsets will be connected to several base stations at the same time.

– The cell phone in 5g network is completely decoupled from the base station. It will no longer know from which base station the data signal comes, says Mats Norin.

There are several reasons why Ericsson chose to use the new solution. Partly because it 5g becomes more important to have a connection in reserve. Partly because it thus possible to increase the speed further. (See more explanation in the graphic at right.)

The remaining challenge is the business model for 5g, says Mats Norin.

– Technically, we have good track. But who will provide the new 5g services? And who pays?

What is Ericsson’s main competitors in 5g he does not hesitate nor over. It’s Huawei and Nokia. And he is equally convinced of the importance of being the first 5g?

– Absolutely, it’s very important, says Mats Norin.

Mobile phone on wheels is testing future 5G – Swedish Radio

Great as a trunk does not need to be the future of mobile. But in Ericsson’s technology lab does size matter when testing 5G. The important thing is that 5G is a hundred times safer than today’s 4G networks. It is particularly important for mobile networks to cope with “internet of things”, where, for example, medical robots must be infallible. The standard for 5G will be completed in 2020 and the world’s mobile industry seems to stand united on how it should be designed.

The program participates Mats Gullbrand Ericsson Mats Norin , Ericsson, and Zander , a professor of radio at KTH.
