How much can the EU audit cost Apple – IDG.se

After a while back examines EU commission Apple’s tax treaty with Ireland, which means that the electronics giant pay only 2.5 percent of the tax instead of the normal 12.5 percent.

Now the news Bloomberg calculated how much Apple may be forced to pay the back taxes if the European Commission finds that the agreement violates the rules. A total of at least $ 8 billion, equivalent to 70 billion Swedish kronor.

As if that were not bad enough, Apple may be forced to pay retroactive taxes in other EU countries. The first to demand money was Italy, where it is already clear that Apple will pay EUR 318 million, corresponding to SEK 3 billion in unpaid taxes for the period 2008-2013.

The result of the European Commission audit will probably be presented in March.
