The union after Sony layoffs: “Catch competence” – IDG.se

Swedish Engineers have 850 members Sony Mobile in Lund. Now we want Peter Larsson, socio-political director of the covenant, make vigorous effort by society to retain expertise in the industry. Otherwise Sweden risks losing competitiveness.
 
 - What is happening now is that many people are getting laid off, and they will have a focus on his own, and we should support them.

– But there are a different perspective and that is that you have to take advantage of the skills that are now released. One must try to retain expertise in IT and telecom, for about core competencies are spread out, there is a great risk that Swedish competitiveness in the telecom area decreases.

– I’m not happy with how it has been become in life science. Those who got to go to the decreases have probably got a job, but competencies have been spread out and it has affected the industry negatively. For example, Denmark has gone past us in the field.

Peter Larsson says to Sweden Engineers now want to see serious efforts from industry authorities, local companies and investors – to take advantage of the expertise available in Lund.

At Sony Mobile last drawdown (autumn 2012) was hit especially hardware business and many of the employees who had to quit was captured by the Sigma Group.
 
 - There are many areas of IT and telecom are woven into. It needed more and more software in vehicles and in the health sector. We need to identify where the needs are.
