Jonkoping can become the world’s smartest city – New Technology

The think tank Intelligent Community Forum (ICF) crowns every year the world’s smartest city based on criteria including digital equality, sustainability, innovation, labor market and broadband access.

In the beginning of the week went ICF out with a list of candidates for next year’s competition. A total of 21 cities were nominated – and one of these is the Jonkoping.

– Of course it is great fun and a recognition of the entire municipality says Carl-Johan Korsås, Mayor of Jonkoping, in a press release.

Among the other nominees are cities in Asia, North America and Asia – for example, Montreal, New Taipei City and Mülheim.

In February 2016, ICF announce Jönköping is one of the seven cities that have continued on in the selection process. The winner is selected after the think tank’s annual meeting in June.

About Jonkoping wins will be the second time a city in Sweden take home the award. In 2009, Stockholm was named the world’s smartest city of ICF.
