Leaders Picture hamper police investigation – Göteborgs-Posten

The police sees several similarities between some of the recent high-profile cases in Varberg. But the big spread on social media hamper investigative work.

In a short time three women reported that a man groped them when they found themselves outside in Varberg. One of the events received considerable attention in social media, where a photo of a man in Easter Mountain Forest was awarded diligently. Police notes that the large spread that the picture might have complicated the work of the police, writes Halland News.

– If we had been able to implement a real photo of confrontation, we might have been able to work against a suspected offender in day. We are not there now, the investigation is slowed a little bit of this, says Jan Nicklasson, chief investigator for the police in Varberg.

According to Jan Nicklasson, it is primarily about the so-called photo confrontations drop in probative value.

– Have a picture passed around a lot, so could the plaintiff already have a preconceived notion. Then it will not be worth as much, a photo of confrontation must be right things.

He notes that it is increasingly common that people spread this type of images on the web.

– There is something we must learn to live with. People do not do evil, you want to get out information. But for us it was unfortunate in this situation, says Jan Nicklasson.

All three women are interrogated and the police see some connection between the three events.

– We see some similarities in those cases, it can be about the same person.

The police hope that the investigation now can still go ahead with the help of witnesses.
– we hope that we get information from someone who made observations and who has further information on signalament, says Jan Nicklasson.

The police can not, however, see some similarities between the three cases and assault as happened last Friday night when a man was attacked in Easter Mountain Forest. Neither incident where a woman was knocked down by a bag at Brunnsberg Roundabout has no connection with the other events.
