Many took to social media, criticizing the company for not enable the security function for the residents of Beirut, Damascus or Baghdad. Last Thursday killed 40 people in Beirut. “The global media site believe that life lost in Paris are worth much more than those in the Middle East,” writes the site Step Feed into perspective.

Social media was used extensively when Paris was on fire. Superficially think some, while others see it as a good tool to quickly reassure their families in a crisis situation, or show empathy for the victims.

Once the deed in Paris occurred there were many who turned to social media to show their support. Facebook was quick to make available a French flag, which you can easily add over their profile picture to show sympathy. Something that many people have done.

– This has of course become almost like a mass psychosis since yesterday. When we feel powerless, we can in a simple way to show where we stand, to show that this is not okay, says behaviourist Nina Jansdotter.

The company offered not a Lebanese flag users who wanted to show their support for attacks in Beirut.

– this should be neutral. I can understand that people are upset that they will select this particular incident, when you do not have access to the function at other deeds, says Emanuel Charles Stone journalist and advisor in digitization issues.

Facebook has since the launch of the tool last year enabled it at five natural disasters. “Last Friday was the first time we have activated the service for a situation like this,” the representative of the company in an email to Aftonbladet.
