Flappy Birds creator releases new game – 99mac

Dong Nguyen follow up their game phenomenon Flappy Bird with a new game called Swing Copters, which is released on 21 August.

Earlier this year, Dong Nguyen brought much attention on the internet when he chose to take away the hit game Flappy Bird from the App Store, having been the most downloaded free app during the entire month of January. Nguyen should have pulled about 300 000 a day in advertising revenue, but claimed in interviews that the game has become too addictive. He had, however, intends to continue developing the game.

Now, Nguyen’s next game to the App Store, TouchArcade reports. It’s called Swing Copters, and has a look and a way of playing that is confusingly similar to its predecessor. One difference from Flappy Bird is to play this figure moves vertically, and that, if possible, seems even more difficult. As before, you have to press to change direction, and as much as possible try to avoid obstacles. One hit, and the game is over.

Swing Copters is scheduled for release on August 21 to iOS as a free app with ads. For a seven crowns purchase inside the app goes to remove the ads. It remains to be seen if this game becomes as popular as Flappy Bird, and how the author will then deal with it.
