Muskrats contaminated water Molpe – Swedish YLE

Muskrats that built a nest in a culvert near the water well has caused the E-coli bacteria problems in Molpe water. The nest has been made to the drainage in the area has not worked as it should. The heavy rain that came in early August has made the surface water entering the water drain.

Now culvert fixes and additionally must land masses between the culvert and the well replaced. Chlorination of water is also continuing.

Waterworks Attendants Sam Björkholm appreciate that residents Molpe, Korsbäck and Råbacka area must continue to boil their drinking water until the end of next week. The problem with the drinking water affects about 500 households.

The bacteria in the water was discovered during a routine check at the beginning of the week. According Björkholm, all tap water is boiled five or ten minutes before drinking.
