The sun affects the climate of the future – Västerbotten Courier

Researchers at Lund University have managed to recreate the solar activity during the last Ice Age. Using the results, one can easily predict how the climate will be in the future.

“The study shows an unexpected connection between solar activity and climate change,” said Raimund Muscheler, Associate Professor of Quaternary Geology and co-author of the study, in a press release.

The sun’s influence on climate is hotly debated, and still not completely understood. Lunda study suggests that it is not the direct solar energy that affect the climate, but rather the sun’s indirect effects on the atmosphere. It is clear that the sun is important.

“The sun’s processes need to be included in climate models to better predict future global and especially regional climate changes,” said Raimund Muscheler.
