9,694,194 people. So great was the population of Sweden at mid-year this year, according to new statistics from Statistics Sweden (SCB). Since the end of Sweden’s population increased by 49,330 persons, which is the largest increase in years.
The increase is because more immigrants than emigrants – a total of 56,440 persons immigrated during the first six months. Moreover, it has bred more children than there are dead people in the country, according to Statistics Sweden.
