Samsung launches Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and Galaxy Note 5 – 99mac

As previously announced are currently # a new Samsung Unpacked event, and, as expected, shows the Korean giant two new smartphones – the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and Galaxy Note 5. Additionally, reveals the company launch date for payment services Samsung Pay.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is a larger version of the S6 Edge launched in March, with the characteristic domed screen to give the user quick access to favorite contacts and selected apps. Besides the size, the phone will also be a new color selection – silver titanium.

Galaxy Note 5 comes with a new stylus called the S Pen which among other things will make it possible to write down notes even when the monitor is completely off. The phone saves what you type on the screen, and tap again to note is saved for later.

According to Samsung’s S6 Edge Plus more suited to multimedia, while Note 5 is described as ideal for the who wants to work with many things at once. Both phone models, however, has almost identical specifications with an AMOLED display of 5.7-inch, 64-bit processor from the Exynos 7420 and the whole 4 gigabytes of main memory. Both also support rapid wireless charging which can recharge a fully depleted battery in two hours. Furthermore, the telephones 1:16 megapixel camera on the back and a 5 megapixel on the front, and now is support for filming in the resolution 4K.



Software

Both the S6 Edge Plus and Note 5 comes with the operating system Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and Samsung’s own Touchwiz interface. A new feature is the ability to broadcast live streams directly from the phones’ camera to Youtube, both over WiFi and mobile data.

S6 Edge Plus has modified how the arched screen works compared to its smaller predecessor. Now it is not only the contacts that may be on the edge of the screen, without any type of app. A new feature is limited to Note 5 is the ability to take screenshots of an entire screen – not just what is seen but also content that must be scrolled up.

Samsung also displays a slightly unexpected accessories, namely a combined protection and keyboard with real buttons that turns the phone into a BlackBerry-like product. The actual keyboard cover lower part of the front, and going to detach and fasten at the back.

Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and Galaxy Note 5 goes on sale in the US and Canada already 21 August, and advance bookings starts today. Samsung has not yet given any information about the launches in other countries.



Samsung Pay

Samsung also reveals some more details about the new mobile payment system Samsung Pay as first shown up in March. The service will be launched in South Korea on 21 August, and then in the USA 5 September. Other countries reported to have the service “in the near future”, and the United Kingdom, Spain and China are said to be next in line.
