Soft robot lowers elnotan – New Technology

Robots in industry consumes a lot of energy. Sometimes they account for almost half of the energy used in the production process.

But now hopes researchers at Chalmers University in Gothenburg they found a way to solve the problem.

– We’ve been at it for a number of years now by trying to do research on reducing energy consumption for industrial robots but then only saved a few percent. The big moment is that we managed to run the result of a new optimization algorithm in a robot.

It says Kristofer Bengtsson, PhD in automation, engaged in robot research at Chalmers within the framework of the EU project Areus.

/www.w3. org / 1999 / xhtml "> Mainly has been studied industrial robots manufactured by the German company Kuka Roboter.

And with new, smoother movement patterns it is estimated that energy consumption can be reduced by 15-40 per cent in various industrial processes.

– A robot in the day driving very aggressively, the is programmed to run as fast as it can. They want to get it to keep the speed as long as possible to maximize production, says Kristofer Bengtsson.

How many industrial robots ABB and Kukas. But they need to be better coordinated so that they do not need to wait on each other for wasting too much energy.

– It is important To robotillverkarna applying different driving styles and movements, in order to reduce energy costs, says Kristofer Bengtsson.
