11 new Russian reactors and four in Turkey – New Technology

The Russian government gave the go-ahead this week to build 11 new reactors in the country. Moreover leveled the way for four new reactors in Turkey.

They talk as if WWER-600 reactors with power 600 MW developed by Gidropress OKB. The company is also behind the reactor type WWER-TOI from which it will be built seven in 2030. They have a power of 1250 MWe.

At the same time it became clear that the Turkish president Recep Erdogan’s visit to Putin decided Turkey to change any laws that facilitate the construction of four Russian reactors at the plant Akkuyu on the Mediterranean. Rosatom will build four reactors of 1200 MWe each in what will be Turkey’s first nuclear power plant. The cost is estimated at 17 billion euros.
