The earth’s resources end today – New Technology

The so-called Overshoot Day, when this year’s ecological budget is exhausted, falls today. For that resources will last longer required by the WWF, more renewable energy and climate-friendly travel.

Network Global Footprint Network has coined the term Overshoot Day to show how man of consuming the planet’s resources. The day does shift when we, so to speak begins to live in the capital instead of the interest rate.

According to the Global Footprint Network has natural resources previously used to build cities, build roads and growing food at a pace that fits within the earth budget. But in the mid-1970s, the pattern was broken. The gap between consumption and what nature can renew increases and Overshoot Day has since infallit ever before.

This year Overshoot Day, on August 8, falls a day earlier than last year.

– in addition to switching to renewable energy and climate smarter travel habits, we need to reduce food waste and eat more vegetarian food in the richer countries, says Carina Borgström-Hansson, an expert on ecological footprint on the WWF in a press release.

But the WWF also points out that many positive changes are underway, including investments in renewable energy increasing, while many cities and companies invest in energy efficiency and sustainable transport.
