Scrap Transmitter disrupted air traffic – Vasterbotten Courier

A transmitter sent out distress signals over the Öresund region and disrupted air traffic in an entire day. Any plan that passed the airports Kastrup and Sturup received the beeping transmitter.

Police and fire brigade devoted hours to find the emergency transmitter when help suddenly came from an unexpected source – a scrap company.

– They got in touch and said that the transmitter could be included among the junkyard. When we got there they had found it and turned it says Mats Larsson, who led sökinsatsen, to Sydsvenskan.

Why transmitter ended up just where is unclear. Perhaps it comes from an old aircraft disassembled without the transmitter battery has been removed.
