Google builds own quantum computer – Swedish Dagbladet

Autumn 2013 opened Google’s Quantum Artificial Intelligence Lab. Together with colleagues from NASA runs Google researchers from a quantum computer from Canadian D-Wave. One aim of the initiative is for example, investigating how quantum computers can be used to design new algorithms, and build a more comprehensive picture of the universe.

But it is also about pure basic research techniques to find out how a quantum computer works and can be used to best effect.

Now notifies Google in a blog that the company’s Quantum AI Team will develop its own quantum processor to be able to experiment with hardware other than that supplied by D-Wave.

But the computer from the Canadian company will be used to continue with the current version “Vesuvius” with 512 quantum bit (qubit) will be upgraded to “Washington” that works with 1000 qubits.
