More news in IOS 8 – 99mac

99mac continues to push through Apple’s new mobile operating system, and lists here yet several new features and changes.

A funny thing when Apple releases a new operating system is to discover all the little nifty changes and innovations that are not as well documented as the most talked about features. Here are some additional goodies that come with iOS 8th

iBooks and Podcasts

iBooks is no longer a separate app downloaded from the App Store. Instead, it’s part of the system, which means it is not possible to remove. It has also been updated so that it can turn on night mode automatically when it gets dark, and it is now possible to sort the titles for book series. Even Podcasts have become a part of the system.

Safari

In Safari, it has now emerged a button to go to the full size version of a website instead of the mobile-adapted. It is also possible to close tabs on another device by swiping your finger. On iPad, Safari has finally received a new overhead view of all open tabs.

Accessibility

iOS takes this version a few more steps to make the iPhone and iPad easy to use for people with disabilities. Screen Zoom has been redesigned and is now possible to steer with one hand. There are also now several different zoom modes, including “picture in picture”.

Previously, the IOS could read information on the screen, and now it is possible to activate the feature with a gesture or a command to Siri. Speaking of reading has VoiceOver improve with another voice options and support for Braille input.

Hearing aids that support MFI (Made for iPhone) will now be able to seamlessly switch from a paired device to another, and it can turn off the colors in the iOS to show the system in grayscale.

Random MAC addresses

When the iOS device searches for available WiFi networks use it now a randomly generated MAC address. This makes it harder for companies to track and collect data on a device, and thus the customer, which is often used in major shopping centers and stores. Once the device connects to the network is revealed, however, the real MAC address.

Other

  • iCloud key ring has become a little smarter and can now use their saved website passwords to log into the associated apps.

  • You can now see the” call waiting “for FaceTime calls.

  • App Notes now supports rich text formatting and images .
