Wind: 4 gigawatt hours – one hour – New Technology

– windy conditions on Saturday meant that wind power for one hour produced as much electricity as four nuclear reactors normally do, says Annika Helker Lundström, who is president of Swedish Wind Energy, in a statement.

record was beaten between 12 and 13 on Saturday, September 27 when the 4 gigawatt hours produced. It shows statistics of the energy site Elstatistik.se. In total during the day produced 88 GWh, also a record. The previous day record of 81 gigawatt hours was on November 28 last year.

The statistics show how strongly the wind energy varies. This year lows thus far occurred on July 19 when the 4 gigawatt hours produced throughout the day. The same amount of energy during a single hour on Saturday. On average, the Swedish wind power produced about 28 gigawatt-hours per day in the year.
