Free version of Spotify opens up web pages with advertisements and malware – 99mac

the User that is running the free version of Spotify reports that the player opens the web page that contains advertising and even malicious code.

UPDATE: Spotify announces that the problem should now be solved, with the following statement:

A small number of users have experienced problems with the questionable web site pop-ups in their default web browser as a result of an isolated problem with an ad on our free. We have now identified the source of the problem and closed it down. We will continue to monitor the situation.

music service #Spotify is growing fast, and recently it was reported that the service has over 100 million users. Most of these, however, use a free version of the subscription has some limitations, and where the music is interrupted by advertisements.

Since a few days, however, consumers reported that the use of Spotify’s free version resulted in tabs in the browser will open that contains advertising and even malicious code. It all seems to affect users on both Linux, Mac OS, and Windows.
