Kulturministerns campaign against upphovrättsbrott – code of conduct and mångmiljonstöd – Computer Sweden

A code of conduct that will result in cooperation between different actors and different interests when it comes to copyright in the digital world. It is one of the proposals that the minister of culture, Alice Bah Kuhnke, MP, work with in order to curb the infringement of copyright and tackle illegal file sharing.

– We have gathered a range of actors that are affected by this, and had round-table discussions. There are different actors with different interests. You can only get if you meet. The code of conduct is one of the concrete proposals we have come up with.

It said the minister of culture, during the seminar of Netiquette for copyright which was organized by the Swedish Patent and registration office on Monday.

With the code of conduct, it should be emphasized that copyright is an "important cornerstone for growth and innovation for a large and sustainable culture – and media market".

– In the code of conduct is also included to make the internet a safe and legal place for consumers and businesses. To promote innovation and investment of the legal options and limit the economic crime, which is based on copyright infringement.

“Now, I hope that more people want to write in on this code, and that it is becoming a growing platform,” says Alice Bah Kuhnke.

Alice Bah Kuhnke talked about that film and programme makers and companies in the sector should receive coverage for their investments and thus given a chance to survive –and that this requires an intellectual property protection that works and is possible to maintain. “It is a central issue for the government,” she said.

the Government should also set aside 80 million to the PRV and the Swedish agency between 2016-2019 for operations "strengthens the understanding of intellectual potential as a strategic tool of valorisation of knowledge and innovation".

– Within the framework of this PRV, inter alia, work up a picture of how big the problems are in the day. In addition, they increase the opportunities for the public to take advantage of the legal options.

this code of conduct, however, had a tough start. For example, jumped to the former s-minister Björn Rosengren, who now is president of the Film & Tv-producers – because he felt that it is too general way.

“I regret,” says Alice Bah Kuhnke. I am convinced that the work with the code of conduct is important. The work that has taken place is important for the work that the PRV has in front of him.

Is there anything in the criticism then?
– Both yes and no. It is clear that there are other measures that you need to do. We have, of course, already announced by the government that we will do a review of flagrant copyright violation.

– We also work fully with the other proposals. For example, we have given a clear mandate to the national media council on the dissemination of knowledge about these issues.
