Continued pins for older television technology – Vasterbotten Courier

The number of TV subscriptions of cable, satellite and terrestrial networks continues to decline. The largest is the loss of terrestrial TV which had fallen by four per cent to 547 000 subscriptions at the last mid-year. TV reception via old-fashioned antenna is now the smallest of the three platforms, according to the National Post and Telecom Agency (PTS).

The only distribution technology that grows fiber, known as IPTV, on the other hand increases sharply. Last June 2015 saw 655,000 households on TV over fiber, an increase of 126,000 subscriptions or 24 percent compared with the same period a year earlier.

Just under 7 per cent, or 290,000 households, had access only to the free television, meaning SVT all channels and TV4 and TV6.

The PTS Survey of Individuals 2015 reported a quarter that they looked only at the traditional schedule TV while 11 percent stated that they only used the streaming services.
