Setting up a research program on racism – Västerbotten Courier

The Swedish research on racism to be strengthened. Now, the government Research Council – in consultation with the Council for health, labor and welfare (Forte) – commissioned to announce funds for a national interdisciplinary research program on racism. The program comprises 20 million per year starting this year.

“Many people have throughout history been persecuted, oppressed and murdered because of racism. Now we see disturbing pattern in Sweden and Europe to suggest that racism is growing stronger. For the long term, to combat racism, we need to build our work on knowledge, “says Helene Hellmark Knutsson (S) Minister of Higher Education and Research in a press release from the Ministry of Education.
