Sigbritt Karlsson can become KTH’s first female president – New Technology

       

Technology University KTH nominating committee with Börje Ekholm (the Wallenberg family’s power companies Investor former CEO) of the tip has chosen Sigbritt Karlsson as its candidate for the Vice Chancellor post at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm.

KTH state that the selection process has been extensive and that the 58 people originally sought entry.

How will she get its acceptance also at KTH University board, the staff, the union and, ultimately, government, so she becomes the University’s first female president.

– Sigbritt has been the strongest candidate and we believe she will be a good president of KTH. She was the candidate who best meets the requirements profile, we established before recruitment began. She has conducted outstanding research, is a recognized skilled leaders including van to lead an institution, has worked actively with gender issues and is good at communicating, says Börje Ekholm in a statement.

As President of Skovde University has chemical engineer and professor of polymer technology Sigbritt Karlsson ensured that the research at the university has grown in recent years.

– Her best characteristic is that she knows what is truly important. She has mainly expanded research, it has grown a lot in terms of IT-related research and applied industrial IT applications.

Now the so-called consultation process with a hearing for KTH employees on Women’s Day March 8 – and in the end it is the government that decides whether she becomes principal. A decision is expected in the fall.

Do you think she passes the eye of the needle?

– I assume it is. She is very good to work with and do a good job here in Skovde, says Urban Wass.

He says Sigbritt Karlsson in a statement that she wants to “lift KTH and take the university to the next level, not least in terms of education, but also in terms of research and visibility “.

She is 58 years old, has three adult children and one grandchild.

University Board’s recommendation to the government will be decisive. The decision shall be taken on 14 April. Sigbritt Karlsson proposed to withdraw 12 November in the fall.
