Spotify is moving to Google – New Technology

This week announced Spotify that they will go over to Google’s cloud storage service to its 75 million users’ data.

“Historically, we have solved this in the traditional way: by buying or renting space in computer center (…) as close to our customers as possible, “writes Nicholas Harteau, director of technology and infrastructure on the company blog.

the reason that Spotify is now changing and instead begins to store their user data in Google’s cloud service is that the technology has now caught up. Space, functionality and price are talking now to store online, writes Harteau. The choice of precisely Google does he justify that Spotify has good experience of using Google tools and platforms in other contexts.

The Business Insider comments on cooperation with it may seem contradictory to Spotify turn to Google when they compete with Google Play Music, but that kind of collaboration is not unusual: Netflix has recently gone over to Amazon Web Services, despite the fact that they compete with movie service Amazon Prime Video.
