Apple confirms work on the “future of transport” – 99mac

Apple writes in a letter to an american authority that the company is betting on the future of transportation through machine learning and automation.

It has been over a longer period of time circulated rumors and information that the #Apple is working on any type of vehicle under the name of the project #Titan. The company, however, has been characteristically tight-lipped about the project and what it is, but now confirm, however, Apple for the first time that they invest in the “future of transport”, and automatic control systems. This reports Venturebeat.

This is done in a letter to the american agency NHTSA (U.s. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration), where Apple encourages the agency not to restrict the opportunity for companies to test self-driven vehicles on u.s. roads. In the letter, write Apple chief Steve Kenner that Apple uses machine learning in a number of areas, including transportteknologi. Kenner writes:

– We have given comments to NHTSA because Apple is investing heavily in machine learning and automatic systems. There are many potential applications for these technologies, including the future of transportation, so we want to work with the NHTSA to assist in defining the best application for the industry.

Apple’s letter to the authority contains no specific details on what Apple is working on, but confirms nevertheless that the company is developing technology in the field. Apple’s car project in the past year, according to a number of rumors suffered from the problem. In October, it was reported that Apple has plans to build a car on ice, and instead would focus on developing a platform that other actors can use.
