Evernote poodles after massive criticism – ‘ we screwed up us” – IDG.see

The quick turnaround comes after the several users protested against the change and threatened to completely stop the use of the service.

"We announced a change in our privacy policy that made it seem like we don’t care about our customers ‘ privacy, or notes. It was not our intent, and our customers have told us that we klantat to it," writes Chris O’neill, ceo of Evernote, in a blog post.

The original idea was that the user notes would be the basis for the company’s work with machine learning, and system administrators would be able to make use of them in order to improve the algorithm.

The new feature will, however, still to be implemented, but only if the users accept it in their personal settings.

"We are excited about what we can offer to the users with the help of machine learning, but we need to ask for permission, don’t assume that we are given. We are sorry for that we made our customers disappointed, and we review our entire privacy policy because of this," writes Chris O’neill.
