Samsung buy the Harman – 99mac

Samsung challenges Apple and Google in the automotive market when they are buying Harman International Industries for over 8 billion dollars.

In addition to the smart in-car systems develop and manufacture the Harman high-fidelity products and components, including JBL, AKG Acoustics, Harman Kardon and Mark Levinson. Samsung’s ceo and chief strategist Young Sohn said in Harmons press release to:

– the vehicles of Tomorrow will be shaped by smart technology and conductivity in the same way that mobiles have transformed with the help of smart technology in the last ten years. We see a great potential in the market for smart cars in the long term and we believe that Samsung as a company will be able to meet the demand of specialized connected components and solutions for the market.

Further writes Harman in its press release that Samsung has long been interested in order to broaden the range of connected solutions, and that the car market has been extra interesting. Samsung is not alone to take an interest in smart cars. So far, Samsung has not been able to compete with either Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. It has also been rumored that Apple is working with to develop a car of his own under the name Titan.
