The App Store hit a record high on new year’s day – 99mac

Customers bought the apps for over 2 billion 1 January which is a new record for Apple’s App Store.

Visitors in the App Store for IOS, Mac and Apple TV bought apps for a total of 240 million dollars, equivalent to slightly more than sek 2 billion. The day concludes with a winter holiday who has been the highest grossing ever for the App Store, with sales of over 3 billion dollars during the month of december the equivalent of sek 27 billion.

In 2016, the developers have earned over sek 180 billion in #App Store, which is an increase of 40 percent compared to 2015. Ago the App Store for IOS, which opened in 2008, developers have pulled in over 540 billion.

One of the most popular apps was unsurprisingly Super Mario Run, which was released in december but still managed to become one of the top ten most downloaded apps in 2016. The game brought back 40 million times in just the first four days after launch. Apple and Nintendo, however, has not disclosed how many of those downloads actually led to a purchase, when the game first tracks is free.

Other apps belonging to the year’s most popular is Pokemon Go, Prism, Reigns, Procreate, Lumino City, Sweat with Kayla and Djay Pro.
