PTS: Telia were wrong to offer their customers with free surf – Sveriges Radio

It is about Telia’s offer of a free surf on social media and free listening. These offer makes it so that some apps in the cell phone does not draw any surf when using them. Something that PTS are now criticising, in a preliminary decision. Emma Närvä is head of the unit for electronic communications services in the national post and telecom agency

“we have come to the preliminary is that the traffic management in their offerings is not consistent with the EU regulation we have in the field,” she says.

After that Telia in the spring launched the deals got PTS in many notifications about Telia broke against net neutrality. Net neutrality is a principle that all internet traffic should be treated equally by internet service providers and that no party should be favoured. Now to the PTS decision by Telia will comply and change their offer. But Jonas Hasselberg, head of Telia’s konsumentaffär, do not agree with the decision.

– We shall analyze this decision, but in general, we do not agree with how the PTS has assessed neither the law or our ebjudandes effect on the Swedish market.

Telia will not, at this stage to change its offer and is now given the opportunity to comment on the PTS decision, by 4 January.
